Seven Blessings, No Eight

And their names are Wayne, Reyna, Corrie, Amy, Mercy, Tekoa, Nathan, and Isabella. That is the exhaustive list of my husband and children. I cannot imagine how empty my life would be without the love of my life and the product of our love.

It seems that so many people drop their jaw in our culture today over the number of our brood. It's understandable really. Our culture has gone from "how can I serve the community?" to "how can the community serve me?" It's devasting really to be so wrapped up in a culture of self.

The blessing of giving ourselves away for something or someone greater has been lost. The things that we think serve us like our jobs, our house, our vehicles, etc. are actually things that have become our masters. We live to work, we live to pay the bills, we live to live in our house, we live to drive our cars. Real needs become unimportant. These needs in our world today of modern slavery/trafficking, abuses, famine, war, and the like combined with the images that are bombard our minds need REAL answers. Ugh. What a wicked woven web!

My children are my delight. It is wonderful to be able to give of myself to my protege. They learn from us by watching our lives just as I have learned from my parents (good and bad) ...am I living a life worth multiplying? Having children automatically bring an accountability of our personal integrity. Why not make that multiplication a fantastically incredible adventure of faith in a God who gives hope through his plan of love (Jesus his Son)?!
