Forgetting what was behind and pressing on toward the goal...
That seems to be the "word" here lately.
Psalms 45 10 Listen, O daughter, consider and give ear:
Forget your people and your father's house.
Forget your people and your father's house.
This was the verse that Holy Spirit led me to over the weekend. When we live our lives, there is a tendency to want to live in the past struggles. That tendency regardless of how "natural" (familiar) it is can stunt our growth as an individual. As a believer in Jesus our spiritual lives can even starve and die. Recognizing the negative, repetitious thought patterns is only the beginning of the battle. I am learning to change and embrace Truth-full thought patterns.
11 The king is enthralled by your beauty;
honor him, for he is your lord.
honor him, for he is your lord.
The second part of that verse really challenged me yet again about how much God, our Father, really does love me. It is honoring to him when I receive that love. A prime example of thinking Truth-full thoughts.
The truth is: it is not okay to use the past as an excuse not to grow, live, thrive...
Let us honor God for His redemption, for His Life-lived on this earth, for His mighty power in and through us.
Philippians 4 8Finally, brothers, whatever is true,
whatever is honorable,
whatever is just,
whatever is pure,
whatever is lovely,
whatever is commendable,
if there is any excellence,
if there is anything worthy of praise,
think about these things.
9What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me
—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.
